Description

Inspired by the Italian fencing master, Fiore de’i Liberi’s fight book ‘Fior di Battaglia’ the design of this mug features original images compiled from the MS Ludwig XV 13 manuscript with a thought to Fiore’s philosophy of the Art.

The central figure depicts the seven basic blows of the sword, surrounded by four main application methods of the longsword: sword in one hand, sword in two hands, halfswording, throwing the sword. Each method is paired with a virtue of the fencer, represented by an animal in Fiore’s Art: the tiger – speed, the lion – courage, the elephant – strength, the lynx – measure.

HEMUGs are made of high-quality porcelain. All the hand-designed patterns are made of porcelain paint, printed and applied with a special process and burnt at 900 Celsius in a kiln, so they will never wear or fade away. Our mugs are shipped in an environmentally friendly packaging, filled with rustic wood wool.
